Food Grade Lubricants

Food Grade Lubricants – Characteristics

Lubricants are used in each branch that has to do with machinery. This also applies to the food industry. As this concerns food, the selection of lubricants is very important. In food industries only food grade lubricants were allowed to use. To grade a lubricant as food grade lubricant, it must have certain characteristics. These characteristics were defined by the NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) and the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Food grade lubricants can only be produced from components these foundations permitted. Only harmless raw material can be used to produce lubricants. Very important is that the food grade lubricant is definitely non-toxic, as leakages can occur and the products can get polluted.

Food grade lubricants were certified with NSF H1. Beside the food industry they are also used in animal feed and pharmaceutical industries.
